How essential to our health are they?
Essential oils come in those attractive (yet mysterious) little bottles, found in health-food stores. What can they do for us? Essential oils have been used for centuries in healing therapies and for personal care. In the United States, they are not as popular as they are in European spas and clinics. What are we missing?
Essential oils, which come from the various parts of plants, are the most concentrated form of botanicals. More than 3,000 oils have been extracted for healing applications, yet only 300 are commonly used. Although they are called "oils," they are not oily. They vary in form from being watery, which is the most common, to a nearly solid state. When applied to the skin, molecules from the oils are absorbed through the skin and nose. Once inhaled or absorbed, they are converted into messages, which the brain processes for restoring optimum function, enhancing circulation, calming emotions, stimulating systems within the body, and overall healing. The body breaks down the most essential properties of the oils and uses them to become balanced
and healthy.
You are already familiar with the names of many: lavender, thyme, juniper, geranium. Next time you're shopping at your favorite health-food store, ask the store clerk to explain the variety of aromas and uses of essential oils. You will discover a new world of enticing fragrances and calm, healing potential.

It's a new year, be bold! At the salon, Eric Rico created new looks for two sisters who wanted to go into the new year looking great. The day was filled with Holiday energy.
One sister wanted a complete new look. Eric took her from a bleach blond to a rich brunette and incorporated an updated 50's cut. The other sister wanted rich red highlights that accentuated the brunette undertones. The cut was cute and sassy that brought out the rich red highlights.

Make sure you perform a test patch on your skin before applying makeup all over on the big night. You never know how different types of makeup will affect your skin, and you wouldn't want to break-out in a nasty rash and ruin all the ghoulish fun.- Take caution with makeup usage around open flames (or jack-o-lanterns) as many products contain flammable ingredients.
- Use properly specified makeup for each area of your body. Take care when applying body makeup to your face, or vice versa, as the formulas are specifically designed for certain areas and could easily irritate your skin.
- Apply makeup thinly, one color at a time allowing the makeup to adequately dry. This will help with even application, as well as avoid excess amounts of product on your skin.
